First off, as you may have heard, bay area musician and friend to many of the most noted figures in the Northern California underground and from around the world, Jeff Davis (aka Jef Leppard) passed away in a tragic motorcycle accident recently which left his wife Nikki fighting for her life. The East Bay Express ran an article on Jeff and his passing.
Tankcrimes' Scotty Heath, who was not only a bandmate, but dear friend, said the following: "My incredible friend and brother in Voetsek. Nothing will ever be the same without you." He also has sent along a site for anyone willing to help Nikki with her struggle.
The music and underground communities pulled together and held the Jef Leppard Memorial at Lennon Studios fund raiser on the 16th of June, which featured a pot luck, outstanding bands like L.A. band SMD, Blown to Bits, Proudflesh and Vastum; By all appearances, it was a bitter sweet success which had people from all over turning out to show their support.
I think many of us know how difficult it is to lose a loved one, but only a few of us will enjoy the outpouring of emotion from so many people when our own time comes; the amount of people and smiles you see from the images of the memorial truly attests to the triumph that was Jeff Davis' life, how deeply loved he was and how his existence on this planet touched so many. And please remember, Nikki needs your help, so try to do what you can to either donate or let others know how they can help by telling them about the Caring Bridge donation page for Nikki.
Now, swinging to the other side of the emotional spectrum, it seems "Toxic Waste" , one of the releases which people were looking most forward to this summer, has just come out of its second pressing and is available now!
