A cassette comp!  Badass!  Cassettes seem to making a minor comeback, they are incredibly inexpensive.

This tape comp brings together 11 bands from the land of Mormon.  At first I am surprised that there are that many “punk” bands in SLC.  A lot of the comp lives in the street punk camp but there is some decent stuff on here.  ALL SYSTEMS FAIL never fails (pun intended) to deliver some decent political hardcore punk and is easily one of the stand outs.

I’ve seen RENDEN TERROR before and the drummer was a really nice guy, they are worth a breakout mention as well.  On the flipside DIONYX really caught my attention with a more anarcho-hardcore punk sound that I found refreshing.  ENDLESS STRUGGLE, the SLC street punk kings turn in two songs to round out the comp.

Overall the production of most tracks is pretty muddy, lo-fi but very listenable.  That dude Trevor put this together.  I’ve seen that dude all over, Oakland, LA, Boise, Denver…A nice effort that will see a lot play at many a punk rock party.

The liner notes are pretty basic with minimal info on each band.  A collage of pictures of punks takes most of the room provide on the four panel double-sided paper cover.

Other bands include:  NEVER SAY NEVER, REBELLIOS CAUSE, DRUNK AS SHIT, SKINT, CHERRY STRIP, DESOLATE, and the HUNG-Ups.

Record label from Oakland, CA. Home of CANNABIS CORPSE, GHOUL, DIRECT CONTROL, KICKING SPIT, and many more.
