We are all aware of the Occupy movement which is happening, not only across the United States Of America, but also the world. Well, recently an incident has shown that things may take a turn for the worse. On the night of October 25th in Oakland California, Police opened fire on peaceful protestors during an "eviction" operation, among whom were women, children, disabled citizens as well as members of Veterans for Peace and Iraq Veterans Against The War .
One VFP/VAW member, Scott Olsen was critically injured after being hit in the head with a police projectile. He suffered a fractured skull and is currently hospitalized in stable condition. Not only that, but protestors who went to his aid were also fired upon (view videos below).
By using non-lethal projectiles, flash grenades and tear gas on the citizens of this nation, the authorities have shown, once again that they work for people who hold little regard for the Bill of Rights. I certainly hope the offending officer, his commanders and the mayor are held legally accountable for their actions.
Police officers around the country should remember their oaths to "protect and serve" the people, to uphold and be a symbol of justice...we can only hope the horrors of Kent State will not be repeated as this movement for equality and social justice, this fight against deep-rooted corruption within our political structure continues.
Scott Olsen served his country with two tours in Iraq, he comes home to fight for a righteous cause and is shot by his own countrymen. He is a soldier who kept true to his oath: "I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic" we salute him and wish him well!
If you would like to make a donation to support his full recovery you may do so here.
We have some more sad news to report, during the Death Angel, Testament, and Anthrax show that our ED reported on, Death Angel's Guitar Tech & Tour Manager, Dane Wolf, was severely beaten and needed to be hospitalized, exact details of what went down are sketchy, few and far between. Quite tragic all around, a man is seriously hurt and it gives both metal and the town where this type of crap goes down a bad name.
His family is asking for donations to help with the medical expenses. Donations can be made here. We wish Dane all the best and a speedy recovery.
