Let's begin with some awesome news for our favorite cannibal freaks from Creepsylvania, Ghoul, it has just been announced that they are Joining Virginia legends Gwar and Municipal Waste on the "Return of the World Maggot tour"!
The tour begins in Richmond on March 16th with a special tribute show to benefit the family of Gwar's Cory Smoot (Flattus Maximus) who recently passed away while on tour. All proceeds from the Richmond show will go to the Smoot Family Fund.
Here are the dates, don't miss a show if you're in the neighborhood.
If you're not familiar with Ghoul yet, have a listen now to their well received crossover thrash mind-melter "Transmission Zero" now! And if you have any questions, and I do mean, any questions at all, don't forget to ask Cremator a question or two ...we double dog dare ya!
More show news, Ottawa's own FUCK THE FACTS have confirmed that they are going to do a bit of regional touring before they go onto a far more wide reaching tour sheduale, which also includes dates for Europe. So, if you're in the Ontario or Quebec area, these are the places you can catch 'em.
Napalm Death, in case you haven't heard, has launched an "Occupy Napalm" tab on their Facebook page to both show support for the Occupy movement (which has been sweeping the globe this year) and keep people updated with the latest news on the upcoming album. Other goodies include, downloadable Occupy-themed stencils and screensavers, plus a special video teaser for Utilitarian created by Mitch Harris (guitar, vocals).
Also, their new album "Utilitarian" is due to hit here pretty soon, but in the meantime, you can pre-order that bad boy from the bands own FB page. And, if a new album from Napalm Death wasn't cool enough, it has also been confirmed that the day the album is released, there will be a limited edition 7" EP titled "Analysis Paralysis" also released which can be purchased at their label's store. It will be available in both black and clear vinyl and the B-side will include the exclusive track "Youth Offender"...certainly a must have for the hardcore Napalm Death fan!
Here's Barney describing the concept behind "Utilitarian"

This news has been making the rounds for a week or two, but it's still another cool offering, if you dig your hardcore mixed up with a healthy bit of sticky ska, Chicago based band Still Alive, is sharing it's album "Trials" as a name your price download....again, you can have a listen and score it right here. And, always, always, show your support for bands who unselfishly hook you up on music!
Are you a Hardcore fan? We've got a bit o news coming from the Southern Lord Recordings camp, it seems that HC legend Harley Flanagan (CRO-MAGS and Harley's War) has signed with Southern Lord for not one, but many upcoming releases!
Greg Anderson, owner of Southern Lord, had this to say: "Harley Flanagan is one of the most revered, controversial and infamous musicians of the last 25 years of underground music. His resume and reputation speak equal amounts of vitriolic decibels as does his bass stack blaring in your face. I have personally been a huge fan of Harley and his work with the Cro-Mags from the first time I heard their debut album Age of Quarrel in 1986. Much like the feeling you got when you first heard Bad Brains, Discharge or Minor Threat, Cro-Mags were musically and aesthetically on another level that was matchless. Through the power of the net and sheer luck I started talking to Harley Flanagan over emails and telephone past year. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the intensity and honesty of his playing also carried through in his personality. Harley is humble, raw, intelligent, driven and focused. To say it is an honor for Southern Lord to be working with Harley Flanagan is a enormous understatement! We're in shock and CAN NOT WAIT to get this shit going! The first release we will be doing together will be the forthcoming Harley's War album. The demos of the material he has shared with us for this are fucking phenomenal! The new Harley's War material has the same feeling as the initial musical impact the Cro-Mags first had in the mid-'80s. Killer songwriting, raw lyrics and Harley Flanagan's trademark bass playing. As mentioned above this is "other level" shit! Expect nothing less than a brutal musical beatdown from the master!"
Speaking of Hardcore, L.A. hardcore outfit TERROR has just unleashed a new video, "The New Blood", and are about to also launch their most recent tour. Dates can be had below the video.
