This two piece AMERICAN (originally from Columbia but we got 'em NOW!!) Black Metal band has given me hope!! Dagon has embraced ALL that rules from the 2nd wave of NORWEGIAN/SWEDISH Black metal. He has taken everything that I like and morphed them into Obscure Verses for the Multiverse! He has taken the vocal style of ABBATH, the Musical structures from IMMORTAL, DISSECTION, BURZUM [without the irritating Casio] MAYHEM and early DIMMU BORGIR and thrown them all into a cauldron to boil over an open fire from the pits of HELL. Inquisitions music is atmospheric, journey induced BLACK and ROLL BLACK METAL. The churning endless droning of the guitar and the croaking painful vocals encapsulate the listener. This cd should be listened to through a good set of head phones. At times I felt like the band had somehow found the key to my soul and was playing this tomb just for me. From the opening blast beats [not blinding but a good snappy blast] of Force of the Floating Tomb these guys have you captive.

It's good to see an AMERICAN black metal band that actually sounds good. Face it!! We haven't had a huge helping of productive consistent and good black metal bands in a long time [maybe ever]. These guys are on the METAL ALLIANCE tour with Behemoth, Goatwhore and 1349. I am interested to see how these guys translate live. I am sure the speed pedal will be in overdrive with this line up!!

I actually picked up this album first and just went back three days later and picked up 2011's Ominous Doctrines of the Perpetual Mystical Macrocosm. This is a great slice of what they do!! The new album is just a continuation!! Musically tighter and still epic!! I am now on the hunt for their earlier stuff!!

Bottom line is if you like Immortal, Watain, Dissection and Mayhem etc you will like these guys.
