ABADDON is the angel of the bottomless pit, tormentor of locust and a sick ass grind band from the Midwest. When I first got this record I didn't know what it was. The drawing on the cover is ultra sick but the graphic envelopes the logo and makes it really hard to decipher. Then I opened it up and saw what it was and I was instantly stoked. I have jammed these dudes before and seen them play, I think one of my bands even played with them once as well.

Grind, grind, grind, brutal, brutal brutal! That is the best way I can describe this record. This ABADDON is from Wisconsin, not to be confused with the old Polish band or all the other bands with the same name. To me, there is a couple different ways of achieving the Grind. Some Grindcore comes from metal but others argue true Grind comes from punk. Then there is type that comes from college hipsters trying to be edgy. This seems to come from the punk rooted side of things but is super metal influenced. Full on guitar squeals rear their heads between super fast riffs, crazed double vocals mixed into a frothy stew of blast beats and heavy break downs. All this combined makes this one killer high energy vinyl.

The double vocals are way vicious across this album. They blurt about the environment, political injustices, puffing weed and drinking too much booze. Truth be told, I can find this genre of music to be a little boring to listen to on a record and find it is better expressed through live performances. ABADDON is not of that ilk at all. I'm not saying they suck live it's just that this disc makes you scream along even if you don't know what is being said.

If you don't know what they are saying and want to, then lucky for you, they included all the lyrics. I got to say the drums sound superb through out the recording. With six members you might expect it to be a little muddy but that doesn't seem to be the case for these guys. The whole mix is really well done, nice and heavy with a bit of rawness still showing through. It doesn't come off as over produced at all. Maybe a little contact info would be nice. I went on the internet trying to find some contact info and found out this record has a name. "Life Out of Balance" Strange, it does not say that anywhere on the record. It is a perfect length, six song 45 rpm 12 inch colored vinyl. PEACE MAKER DO MY BIDDING!!!
